Quality & Environment Policy

We are dedicated to producing quality products and services which continue to satisfy the needs and requirements of our customers and interested parties & to the protection & care of environment & to this end the Quality & Environmental Policy is reviewed at the Management Review to ensure its continuing suitability and effectiveness, and to ensure it remains appropriate to the purpose, scale, nature and impact of the company’s activities, products and services.

We are totally committed to meeting requirements & to continual improvement at all levels & within all functions of the company & this commitment is consistently achieved through the implementation & maintenance of our Quality & Environmental Management System which satisfies all the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 & ISO 14001:2004 & any relevant legal, corporate, customer or other obligation to which the company subscribes. This is evidenced by documented procedures, objectives & results, is maintained by a system of Internal Audits, an annual Management Review & independent audits by recognized bodies, which may include our customers themselves.

Quality & Environmental Objectives & Targets will normally be set as a result of Management Review or actions arising from this policy & will be communicated to the individuals concerned as per the documented procedure in the Quality & Environmental Management Manual. Corporate quality & environmental objectives & targets will be communicated through the SKM management structure. Specific quality & environmental objectives & targets can also be assigned through results of internal audits, changes in applicable legislation or customer/interested party requirements, or as part of the ongoing continual improvement programme. All quality & environmental objectives & targets are documented & reviewed. Current overall Quality & Environmental objectives & Targets include reduction of customer complains, reduction of defects, introduction of quality awareness initiatives, energy monitoring & reduction program, monitoring of emissions & discharges, recycling investigation, environmental awareness campaign  and extended Internal auditor training.

Our procedures ensure compliance with the requirements to which the company subscribes. It is a mandatory condition of employment that all employees follow the appropriate procedures at all times. Any neglect of this condition will be treated with utmost seriousness & can lead to disciplinary measures.

The development, training & awareness of our personnel is a major factor in the understanding, implementation & maintenance of the system.

Ultimate responsibility for the Quality & Environmental Management System is that of the General Manager (Mr. Ali Jaber) but quality & care of the environment is the responsibility of everyone in the organization. In recognizing the importance of the Quality & Environmental Management System the company has appointed a Management Representative (Mr. Ammar Abdul Latif, QA/QC Manager) who has responsibility & authority for all matters pertaining to the system elements. It is the responsibility of SKM to provide adequate & appropriate resources to implement this policy.

This policy has been defined by the senior management of SKM with the endorsement of SKM & has been communicated, understood & implemented throughout the organization as per documented procedure in the Quality & Environmental Manual. It is available to interested parties and the public on request from Reception.
